On 28 March 2026, Guantao Law Firm held the opening ceremony for its Zhuhai office at CCCC Huitong Hengqin Plaza in Hengqin, Zhuhai. Guests included Dong Mingzhu, Chairwoman of Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai; Cui Liguo, Chairman of Guantao Law Firm’s Management Committee; and Han Dejing, Director of Guantao Law Firm. Business leaders, academics and representatives of Guantao offices attended the ceremony.
That afternoon, the opening programme continued with a law and business seminar on the overseas expansion of Chinese enterprises developing new quality productive forces. Dandan Fei, a Partner at Guantao Law Firm’s Shenzhen office, spoke at a roundtable on intellectual property protection and data compliance.
Zhuhai Office Opens in the Greater Bay Area
Zhang Wei, President of Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai; Wang Bin, President of the Zhuhai Lawyers Association; Han Dejing, Director of Guantao Law Firm; and Chen Ping, Director of its Zhuhai office, jointly unveiled the office plaque.
Dong Mingzhu joined Wang Bin, Cui Liguo and Chen Ping for the lion dance eye-dotting ceremony. The ribbon-cutting guests also included Fang Xiangjian, Executive Vice President of Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai; Liu Ning, Board Secretary of Livzon Pharmaceutical Group Inc.; and Yang Chengming, Dean of the School of Civil and Commercial Law at Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai.
In his welcome address, Chen Ping outlined the office’s plans to serve businesses in Hengqin and the Greater Bay Area and support overseas expansion. Zhang Wei recalled Gree’s work with Guantao. Gree presented the Zhuhai office with a plaque recognising it as a strategic partner in law and business.
In his closing address, Cui Liguo called for collaboration with Guantao’s other Greater Bay Area offices and a focus on local business needs. Zhuhai became Guantao’s 39th branch worldwide and its fourth office in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Legal Risks for Innovative Enterprises Expanding Overseas
The seminar was jointly organised by Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai, the School of Civil and Commercial Law at Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai, and Guantao Law Firm. Guantao’s Zhuhai office hosted the event with support from Hengqin Shenhe Industrial Investment Promotion Co., Ltd. More than 160 representatives from business, academia and the legal profession attended.
Han Dejing opened the seminar by discussing Guantao’s plans for Zhuhai and the Greater Bay Area, and the implications of international economic conditions for businesses expanding overseas.
Shu Lizhi, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai, discussed Gree’s international expansion, including the transition from product exports to building brands and promoting standards internationally. He also addressed cooperation between businesses, law firms and universities.
Professor Yang Chengming, Dean of the School of Civil and Commercial Law at Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai, addressed the ESG requirements facing low-altitude economy enterprises entering European and US markets. His presentation considered the relationship between technology, local operations and compliance.
Zou Jun, a Managing Partner of Guantao Law Firm, moderated the roundtable on legal risk prevention for Chinese enterprises expanding overseas. Participants included Xu Zhiming, Vice President of the Zhuhai International Arbitration Court; Tu Guangjian, Professor at the University of Macau’s Faculty of Law; and Huang Fulong, Executive Director of Guantao’s Shenzhen office. The discussion covered cross-border disputes, export controls, international arbitration and overseas business planning.
Dandan Fei spoke at the roundtable on domestic and international intellectual property protection and data compliance for innovative enterprises. Her fellow panellists were Professor Yi Zaicheng, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law at Macau University of Science and Technology; Professor Chen Zhijie, Director of the Centre for Law and Policy Practice at Jinan University; and Li Hongjiang, Chair of Guantao Law Firm’s Intellectual Property Committee. Feng Nianqun, a Partner at Guantao’s Hangzhou office, moderated the discussion.
The panel considered practical business needs in coordinating intellectual property protection across jurisdictions, managing cross-border data compliance, and commercialising innovation.
